Lucas' Approach to Therapy

Lucas's passion for psychology stems from a deep belief in people's ability to heal and grow, even through life's inevitable challenges. Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), he helps clients break free from negative thought patterns and reshape their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world — building a healthier self-image, fostering secure relationships, and thriving personally and professionally. He also incorporates Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help clients process trauma and live fully alongside difficult experiences. Having lived in various countries and experienced diverse cultures, Lucas offers a compassionate, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their personal journeys and embrace their differences.

Lucas' Specialties

Lucas So is a Registered Psychologist with a Master of Education in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Toronto. Lucas has years of experience in trauma processing using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for various traumas, including childhood, relationship, workplace, motor vehicle accidents, and other types of trauma. Lucas also has extensive experience supporting concerns including work stress, self-esteem issues, emerging adulthood, life transitions, family concerns, and navigating relationships. Lucas is also trained in CBT-I to assist clients with sleep issues and insomnia.

A Note From Lucas

Living across cultures has shaped how I understand identity, belonging, and change. I bring that perspective into therapy with curiosity about each client's story and the meanings they carry.

Common Questions

You do not need to be in crisis. Many people come in feeling stuck or sensing something is off, even when life looks fine from the outside. Curiosity is enough to start.
Mostly a conversation. A chance to share what brought you in, what you are hoping for, and what kind of support would feel most helpful. No pressure to have it figured out before you arrive.
Both offer the same quality of care. Virtual therapy can be easier for flexibility, while in-person therapy may feel better if you prefer being in the room together.
It depends on what you are working through. Some people benefit from a few focused sessions. Others prefer longer-term support. There is no fixed timeline. It is shaped around your goals.
Completely normal. A free consultation is available if you'd like to ask a few questions first, but it is optional. You are also welcome to take more time before booking an appointment.
Select insurance plans may be accepted. Ask at booking to confirm whether your plan is covered for therapy appointments.
