Why the match matters
A Good Fit Makes It Easier to Open Up
Therapy asks you to talk about things that are personal and sometimes hard to say out loud. Feeling understood, respected, and safe with your therapist helps those conversations happen.
That relationship grows over time, and it helps to start with someone whose experience, approach, and way of communicating feel right for you.
The Purposeful Match is designed to help that relationship begin with a thoughtful introduction, based on your needs, preferences, and what matters most to you.

What we consider
Whatever Matters to You
The Purposeful Match is designed to make finding a therapist feel less overwhelming. By considering what matters to you and personally reviewing your preferences, we aim to provide a thoughtful recommendation while keeping the final decision in your hands.
Select any preferences you’d like us to consider as part of The Purposeful Match. We’ll do our best to take them into account when recommending a therapist.
Why we take the time
A Thoughtful Approach to Finding the Right Fit
A Personal Review of Your Needs
Our Client Services Team looks beyond availability to consider what you’ve shared alongside each therapist’s experience, therapeutic approach, communication style, and availability.
This personal review helps us recommend someone who may be a good fit for your needs, rather than simply assigning the next available therapist.
What the Research Tells Us
Research shows that the relationship between a client and therapist is associated with better therapy outcomes. Considering client preferences is also associated with greater engagement in therapy.
While a therapeutic connection develops over time, The Purposeful Match aims to give that relationship a thoughtful starting point.

Finding a better fit
We’re Here After the Match Too
Finding the right therapist can take time. Sometimes a connection develops over a few sessions, while other times you may feel that a different therapist would be a better fit. Both experiences are normal.
If you’d like to explore another option, our Client Services Team is here to help. You can reach out before your first session or at any point during therapy. We’ll revisit your needs and preferences and help you explore another potential match.
If you feel comfortable, you’re also welcome to discuss your concerns directly with your therapist.
